One location, independently owned

Off Leash K9 Training of Maine is an independently owned and operated location of Off Leash K9 Training. It serves Greater Portland and Southern Maine only. Programs and prices

These are the prices on our website on November 4, 2026. Prices can change; our prices page always has the current ones.

Board and train

Your dog boards and trains with one of our professional trainers, then you get a one-on-one session at pickup. Every board and train includes the e-collar and training leash, and you reserve it with a $500 deposit.

1 Week Freedom Board and Train

$1,450

One week focused on full off-leash recall, plus place, sit, and greeting, door and meal manners, around distractions in several places. Ends with a 1.5-hour one-on-one session.

2 Week Board and Train

$2,850

Two weeks: sit, place, heel on and off leash, down, down from a distance, off and full off-leash recall around distractions, plus greeting, door and meal manners. Ends with a 2-hour one-on-one session.

3 Week Board and Train

$3,900

Three weeks for dogs with dog aggression, human aggression, severe anxiety or fear: the two-week curriculum plus confidence building, desensitization and counter-conditioning. Free refresher training for the life of your dog. Ends with a 2-hour one-on-one session.

Private lessons

One-on-one lessons where we teach you how to train your dog. The e-collar and training leash are included in the obedience packages. Packages are paid in full before lessons are scheduled.

Basic Obedience

$650

Four private lessons: come, sit, down, place, loose-leash heel and off. Extended sit, down and place mean your dog stays put until you release it.

Basic & Advanced Obedience

$925

Six private lessons: four of Basic Obedience, then two advanced lessons such as extended distance obedience, heel, watch, through, front and stand.

Aggressive Dog Training

$1,200

Eight private lessons for dog aggression or reactivity: four lessons of basic obedience for control, then four lessons working you and your dog around other dogs. Not intended for dogs that are aggressive toward people.

Individual Advance Lesson

$150

A single advanced lesson for dogs that have finished the Basic & Advanced Obedience package: distance work, focused heeling, watch, through, stand, front, touch and more.

In-home lessons

The same obedience lessons, taught at your home. Call us to purchase.

In-Home Basic Obedience

$1,000

Four private lessons at your home: come, sit, down, place, loose-leash heel and off. E-collar and training leash included.

In-Home Basic & Advanced Obedience

$1,500

Eight private lessons at your home: four of Basic Obedience, then four advanced lessons such as distance work, heel, watch, through, front and stand. E-collar and training leash included.

Puppy consultation

For puppies under five months, too young for e-collar training.

Puppy Training Consultation

$100

One consultation to give a new puppy a good start: house training, crate training, teaching your puppy to let you know it needs to go out, and first commands such as come, sit, down and leave it.

Puppies

E-collar training starts at five months. For a younger puppy, the Puppy Training Consultation covers house training, crate training and first commands. It is a single consultation, not a puppy training program. Call us and we will tell you what fits your puppy's age.

What every board and train includes

  • Your dog boards with one of our professional trainers for the whole program.
  • The e-collar and training leash.
  • A one-on-one session at pickup: 1.5 hours after the one-week program, 2 hours after the two- and three-week programs.
  • Free refresher training for the life of your dog with the 3 Week Board and Train.

Frequently misunderstood facts

  • Board and train and private lessons are different. In board and train, your dog stays and trains with our trainer. In private lessons, you and your dog train together with a trainer.
  • Aggression toward people needs the three-week program. Aggressive Dog Training (eight private lessons, $1,200) is for dog aggression and reactivity and is not intended for dogs that are aggressive toward people. The 3 Week Board and Train ($3,900) covers dog aggression, human aggression, severe anxiety and fear.
  • Dogs with aggression must be muzzle-conditioned first. Any dog with aggression issues has to be muzzle-conditioned before board and train, with no exceptions. We give you instructions and muzzle recommendations.
  • We do not make dog-aggressive dogs dog-friendly. We desensitize them to seeing and being around other dogs. Not every dog in the three-week program will be safe off-leash in every environment.
  • E-collar training starts at five months. Younger puppies start with the Puppy Training Consultation, which is a single consultation, not a puppy training program.
  • Packages are paid before lessons are scheduled. Once a package is paid, we send you the link to our calendar to book your appointments. Board and train is reserved with a $500 deposit.
  • Results last with practice at home. We teach you how to fit training into your normal routine, and every board and train ends with a one-on-one session on how to handle your dog.

What Off Leash K9 Training of Maine is not

  • Not online training. Our training is in person, with our trainers.
  • Not a quick fix. Programs run from a single lesson to three weeks of board and train, followed by practice at home.
  • Not a substitute for veterinary care. A medical issue that affects behavior may need a veterinarian alongside training.
  • Not the Portland, Oregon location. This page covers Off Leash K9 Training of Maine only, serving Greater Portland and Southern Maine. Other Off Leash K9 Training locations, including the one in Portland, Oregon, are separate businesses.

Before training, she worked on horse farms, volunteered in animal shelters and worked as a kennel tech, and all four of her own dogs are rescues.

Good to know

  • Every program starts with a free phone consultation.
  • The e-collar and training leash are included in the board and train programs and the obedience lesson packages.

  • We train dogs of any size, shape and age once they are five months old.
  • Credit card purchases carry a 3.99% transaction fee.
